HIGH ALERT

MANAMA: Bahrain was yesterday placed on alert to avert any spillover from Operation Decisive Storm launched by Saudi Arabia and Arab allies against Houthis in Yemen. The Premier yesterday ordered preparations and pre-emptive measures to be taken to face events unfolding in Yemen.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa gave strict instructions as he chaired a strategic meeting.

He directed all ministries and government departments to enhance the level of alertness, prudence and preparedness to confront any emergency.

He directed all measures to protect Bahrain's interests, vital installations and consolidate its internal front amid critical developments unfolding in the region.

The Premier instructed authorities concerned to monitor and follow up the situation to prevent any party from exploiting regional developments to fuel civil strife between social segments.

He gave instructions to take necessary legal action against anyone who seeks to drive wedges between people and subvert public order.

The Premier highlighted regional upheavals, focusing particularly on the current developments in Yemen.

He paid tribute to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for ordering Operation Decisive Storm.

"Bahrain is taking part in the military campaign along with other GCC states at the demand of the legitimate authorities in Yemen," he said, adding that the security of Yemen is an integral part of GCC security.

Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa gave a security briefing, detailing pre-emptive measures to maintain Bahrain's stability.
