Bahrain:
Labourers left homeless by fire relocated LABOURERS who were left sleeping on the rooftops of Manama after a fire gutted their accommodation last month have finally been relocated. The 30 men were left living on handouts from wellwishers and the Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) since the fire, which broke out on May 13. However, they have now secured new accommodation and are starting to rebuild their lives, MWPS chairwoman Marietta Dias told the GDN. 'We are very grateful to all the generous people and companies who were able to assist with the supply of the items and all those who also came along to assist in the distribution of all the items,' she said. 'The men have found themselves a new building in the same area where they were living before and they are beginning to settle in now. 'The last thing we are able to do to help them is to install their gas stoves and pipelines for them and that is it '“ they will be on their own after that. 'As for the three people that got hurt in the fire, thanks to KIMS Bahrain Medical Centre who provided free treatment, they are back to normal. We have done all we can for them now.' Source:gulfdailynews http://www.gulf-daily-news.com/NewsDetails.aspx?storyid=404041 |
