Premier hails solid ties with India


THE Premier yesterday stressed that co-operation between Bahrain and India can still be expanded to cover many areas to enhance outstanding ties between them.

He pointed out that "doors are wide open for more trade and economic co-operation".

HRH the Premier made the remarks as he received at Gudaibiya Palace outgoing Indian Ambassador Mohan Kumar.

The Prime Minister asserted that the long-standing Bahraini-Indian relations have always been based on mutual respect and joint interests, emphasising Bahrain's keenness to bolster co-operation with India, given its economic weight in the regional and global arenas.

The Premier expressed Bahrain's appreciation of the landmark contributions of the Indian expatriate community to all development fields in the kingdom. He commended Mr Kumar's efforts in strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing co-operation.

The Indian envoy expressed his country's admiration of the landmark development strides made by the government, led by the Premier, which, he affirmed, has entitled the kingdom to be a leader in the political, economic and development fields.

The Indian Ambassador expressed pride in the kingdom as a bright model of co-existence and cohesion. He also thanked the government for supporting the Indian expat community in Bahrain.
