Poison ivy cure for inflamed skin
Remedies for Inflamed Skin From Poison Ivy

If you spend a lot of time outdoors, chances are you may be no stranger to common outdoor ailments like poison ivy. While it can be overwhelming dealing with the rashes and blisters that come along with poison ivy, treating that red, inflamed skin is easy and can bring lots of comfort.
Calamine Lotion
1.    One of the best treatments for inflamed poison ivy rashes is calamine lotion, available at your local drug store. This treatment is better used when you initially come into contact with poison ivy. It will help dry out the skin and blisters associated with the rash and protect skin. Using a cotton ball, apply a thin layer of lotion to the affected area and allow to dry. Do this at least three times a day until you've dried out the blisters.
Hot and Cold
2.    One way to reduce inflamed skin is by alternating a hot and cold compress. Start with a warm washcloth, applied to the area for about 10 minutes, then replace it with a cold one for another 10 minutes. Do this every few hours to control itch and reduce inflammation.
Make a Baking Soda Paste
3.    Another treatment is making a paste out of equal parts baking soda and cold water. Apply the paste to affected skin and allow to dry, then rinse off. This will help treat any itchiness, while reducing the swelling. Try this treatment every few hours for as long as the skin is inflamed and itching.
Witch Hazel
4.    Another natural and effective treatment is witch hazel, which is a natural astringent that will help dry the rash while reducing inflammation. Find witch hazel at most vitamin or natural food stores. Apply a liberal amount onto a cotton ball and dab the skin with it five to six times a day as needed.
Vinegar
5.    White vinegar is another method that has proved effective as both an anti-itch and inflammatory. Dilute white vinegar with a little bit of water first to lessen the smell and dab it onto the skin with a cotton ball. Do this every few hours until the skin clears up.
