129 expats deported in less than 3 months – Drivers advised to follow traffic rules
KUWAIT: Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Maj Gen Abdullah Al-Muhanna announced that 129 expatriates were deported between April 24 and June 16 for driving without license. In a statement released yesterday, Muhanna indicated that the traffic department is ready for the holy month of Ramadan, and decided that working hours will be in two shifts: the first, from 10:00 am until 2:30 pm; and the second, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. He noted that Farwaniya testing’s pm operations will be for expats only, adding, car inspection companies’ operations will be from 10 am to 2:30 pm and again from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm. He stressed that trucks will not be allowed on streets from 8:00 am to 10:30 am, and from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. Moreover, he said streets are under continued surveillance, including road shoulders, saying any violators will be charged noting that road shoulders can only be used from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm during the holy month of Ramadan. Weapons collection Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah met with the Criminal Investigation Department members in charge of carrying out the national weapons collection campaign to receive an update as the grace period given is nearing its end. From the meeting, it was noted that the campaign resulted in the collection of 3,250 weapons and more than eight tons of ammunition. Also, in the meeting, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled thanked citizens and expats, as well as government bodies, NGOs and the media for their cooperation and support to the campaign. The meeting was attended by Interior Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Maj Gen Abdulhameed Al-Awadhi, Director General of the Weapons Detectives Department Maj Gen Farraj Al- Zubi, and Assistant Director Brig Abdelrahman Al-Suhail and Director General of Relations and Security Information Brig Adel Al-Hashash.
