Bachelor crackdown on the way


KUWAIT: Minister of Communications and State Minister of Municipal Affairs Essa Al-Kandari yesterday issued a ministerial decision forming a special team to investigate and prevent bachelors from living in residential areas. The team includes members from the Kuwait Municipality, Interior Ministry, Public Authority for Civil Information, Manpower Public Authority and Ministry of Electricity and Water. Kandari’s decision came following a meeting with a number of governors, Interior Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali, Acting Kuwait Municipality Director Ahmed Al- Manfouhi and senior municipality officials. Speaking on the meeting, Kandari said that violators would be evicted without going to court and that power would be disconnected if the whole property was inhabited by bachelors. Municipality officials announced last year that they would prohibit bachelors from living in residential areas occupied by families. It is not clear however what alternative accommodations will be available to bachelors living and working in Kuwait.
