Expatriate makes up 69 percent of Kuwait's population
Kuwait's expatriate inhabitants makes up 69 percent of the country's population, ranking it fourth worldwide in a ratio between nationals and expats, said World Bank in its report on Tuesday. Qatar topped the list of the countries, with expats making up 87 percent of the population. Monaco ranked second with 72 percent, UAE ranked third with 70 percent, while Honduras came in fifth with 64 percent. As to immigration, the report disclosed that the United States tops the list of countries that receive immigrants, with Russia, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Canada following. In addition, the World Bank said that they are expecting a 5.9 percent increase by the end of 2010 in money transfer transactions from civilized states to developing ones, wherein the money transfer in 2010 has so far reached 325 billion US dollars in comparison to $307 billion in 2009. The report said that the total number of transactions is expected to reach $440 billion by the end of December 2010. The bank also expected that money transfer will increase more in the next two years 2011 and 2012 exceeding $370 billion. According to the report US tops the list of the states in terms of money transfer then Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Russia and Germany while Indian, China, Mexico, Filipina and France top the list of states that receive money transfer. |
