Foreign and bilingual schools KUWAIT: The Ministry of Education has signed an agreement with a British company specialized in educational services to assess foreign and bilingual schools. The assessment will cost of 247,000 Kuwaiti dinars. Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Fahad Al-Gheis said that the assessment is the first of its kind in Kuwait, and that will provide a clear picture of the level of education in schools as well as its quality, which will help develop bylaws and regulations. He explained that the British company has signed similar contracts in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Bahrain, and that it will gather information about the regulations and performance of schools, in addition to making field visits, in order to be able to make its final recommendations regarding that matter. The company will begin the assessment process in January, and will train Kuwaiti employees to conduct similar assessments for Arab schools later. Speaking of private schools in Ahmadi and the precautionary means taken to secure the students, he mentioned that 3500 students study at two schools that follow the Pakistani and Indian educational systems in Ahmadi. He stressed that he met with officials of the Department of Private Education who confirmed that precautionary measures will be taken.
