How many days notice do we have to given if we are leaving a job? |

Hi,
I work at a school here in Kuwait and was wondering how long of a notice i must give the school if im taking another job> is there going to be a problem to transfer my residence? I have been in this school for 3 years but I signed the contract for next year but im having second thought now. im not a teacher, but i work as Admin. staff. I would like to know what the Kuwaiti law is on breaking contract. Plz send ur thoughts. Mia |

I guess it depends upon you particular employer. I think a month will suffice in most cases. |

Usually 30 days has to be given in advance. Since you signed the contract for next year, it's doubtful that you may be granted the release. Check with your HR Dept. Transfer process takes 7 - 10 days only. |

If no specific time is mentioned in your employment contract, then you will have to follow the Kuwait Labor Law and in this case you have to give a 3-month notice to your company because that’s what the New Labor Law states. |

Now-a-days, all seem to discuss about the New Labour Law...Lots of attractive clauses have been put up in it. I hope this come into effect soon...In fact, I'm eagerly awaiting the implementation. What about you all? |

The Kuwait National Assembly has ratified the law of Labour in the private sector and approved. The New Labour Law was published in the official gazette Kuwait Al Yawm Issue No. 963 on February 21, 2010. |

On an average, companies in Kuwait require at least 30 days notice. |

AS per new law 3 month notice period otherwise 3 months salary have to pay. |
