Head of planning and follow up department of Road Maintenance at the Ministry of Public Works, Suha Ashkanani called for an authority in Kuwait that would handle the situation of traffic jams and find the right solutions for it. There were 20 proposals presented that would seek measures to counter traffic jams and provide better traffic experience for road users.
Government should take some important steps very soon to : 1. Confiscates old cars from kuwait roads that occassionally have break down. 2. Increase roads width 3. Cut down more of traffic signals 4. Make more fly overs 5. Issue Lisences only to genuine professional drivers with experience on highly congested roads like in UAE. 6. Confiscate Isuued lisences from drivers without proper trainning from recognised driving school or from people getting driving licences with "wasta". 7. Control the influx of taxi companies. Before Invasion of Kuwait there were only Al Mulla, Al Taer, and 2 or 3 other taxi companies that existed. 8. Metro Rail Network like in UAE or India and Public Bus companies like KPTC, City Bus and KGL can reduce pollution and road congestion. |

It seems plans to set up metro rails in Kuwait are going on...It would be really exciting to have them here ! |
