Kuwait pulls out of Arab Peace Initiative with Israel

Kuwait on Tuesday has announced that it has decided to pull out of the Arab Peace Initiative with Israel, while calling on Arab countries to follow suit, particularly since the initiative has been met by Israel with repeated aggressions, including its attack on the flotilla bound for Gaza carrying humanitarian aid. Gaza is currently under a three year Israeli blockade after Hamas was democratically elected by the Palestinians; many commentators have considered the blockade a form of collective punishment and is considered illegal under international law.
The pullout was a unanimous decision reached by the executive and legislative authorities during an emergency session by the Parliament on Tuesday to discuss the Israeli action. In the meantime, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the Arab League Abdullah Al-Mansour told Middle East News Agency (MENA) yesterday that no official decision has been issued yet regarding Kuwait's withdrawal from the initiative |
