Two eminent Kuwaiti economists said Sunday the country's private sector companies were able to play a leading role in the implementation of the mega development projects if they had the chance to do so.
The private sector asserted itself and gained accumulative experiences in developing key infrastructure, residential, and entertainment projects over the last decade. Chairman of Afkar Holding Company Saleh Al-Youssef said in statements to KUNA. "The performance of the private companies on all levels affirms unequivocally their ability to lead the development drive within the framework of the country's development five-year plan," Al-Youssef said. "The private sector of any country usually shoulders the main responsibility for carrying out major projects thanks to the huge financial, material and human resources it has," he affirmed. "While governments plan for projects, private companies, which constitute the engine and spinal cord of economy, implement these projects," he explained. Al-Youssef cited the bill recently passed by the National Assembly to launch public shareholding companies for carrying out key development projects as an evidence for "the tremendous potentials" of the private sector. |
