‘Stick To Rules During Ramadan’ – Fine, Jail For Violators
KUWAIT CITY, June 18: The Public Relations and Security Media Department of Ministry of Interior has urged the citizens and expatriates of Kuwait to abide by Islamic values during the holy month of Ramadan. In a press statement issued by the ministry, it warned people against eating or drinking at daytime during this month, which is a violation of Law 44/1968. The department affirmed that anyone caught violating this law will face punishment of either a fine of KD 100 or one-month imprisonment or both, adding that this law will also apply on those who forced, incited or helped others violate the law. It explained that any shop or restaurant that violates this law will be closed for about two months. Article 2 of the law allows Ministry of Interior to issue the decision of closing any shops or restaurants in case the owner violates the law. The department stressed that the ministry will take all necessary procedures to ensure the law is applied.
