Just like its people, the family life in Canada is a varied one. Most of the families in Canada comprises of two parents with kids. In Canada there are more than one million single parents’ families, which are mostly headed by woman. There are also a number of step families, which are formed, when the adults, who are already having kids, wed one another. There are also number common-law unions (bachelor people live together) with or without kids.

Also there are families, in which the grand children are looked after by their grandparents. Likewise the nephews and nieces are looked after by their uncles and aunts. The kids are also adopted by some parents. There are also other types of families that comprises of similar sex families, couyples, with or without kids. Also there are extended types of families in which the parents, kids, grandparents, uncles and aunts live together under one roof.

Also it is a common feature in a two parent family, in which both the parent going for work.

Food

Canada has a wide range of cuisines and differs from region to region. It is significant to note that the country boasts of having the credit as the largest manufacturer of Maple syrup.

The well-known national foods of Canada are,

Poutine: It is a dish made up of French fries, fresh cheese curd with a few extra ingredients the dish is covered with a brown sauce or gravy.

Butter tarts: It is kind of tiny pastry tart that is considered highly in the Canadian cuisine. It is regarded as the quintessential desserts of Canada. The tart comprises of butter, syrup, sugar and egg that is packed into a blistering pastry. It is baked into a semisolid filling with a crispy top.

Pierogis: It is made up of baked, boiled or fired unleavened dough dumplings. It is conventionally stuffed with ground meat, potato fillings, fruits or cheese.

Dress

As such the Canadians do not have any particular national or traditional dress however in the northern parts of the country, the people wear long Johns, which is basically long underwear used as under garment. The people also wear tuques (woolen caps), ear muffs, scarves and different jackets that are made up of down lining or leather. The other local Indians and the Inuit have created their own traditional wear that is made up of furs and leather skins.

Sports

The sports in the country comprises of different types of games. But the most common games are Ice hockey, Canadian football, Lacrosse, soccer, basketball, curling and baseball

Lacrosse: It is Canada’s official sport. It is played with a little ball and with a long handled stick known as lacrosse stick or Crosse.

Some of the other individual popular sports are cycling, motor sports, golf, bowling, wrestling.etc.

Canada boasts of having the credit of conducting the Montreal Summer Olympics in the year 1976. Calgary winter Olympics in 1988, and the 2010 Vancouver winter Olympics.
