Nearly quarter of a million visit the Mount Fuji annually especially in the month of July to August. But considering its visibility, winter months are regarded as the best month s to visit the mountain. A number o shrines are located along the rim of the crater.
At the summit of the mountain is a metrological station. It denotes the highest point of the mountain as well as the country. Fujinomiya, Gotemba, and Kawaguchiko are the well known trekking routes to the summit. All the trekking roads are well equipped with infrastructure, each have ten stations like boarding, lodging facilities, there are places for refreshments etc.
From the fifth station situated between 6,000’ to 7,000’, most of hikers start and they have entrée by means of paved roads. The only drawback is there is no train access.
The best way to get to Mount Fuji is boarding the Fuji bound buss that departs from Tokyo’s Shinjuku station.
