The verdant green landscape of the island has a strong influence in its culture and economy. The well-known Canadian Novelist Lucy Maud Montgomery got motivation from this island wrote the famous classical novel Anne of Green Gables, set in this famous island. Still the island poses the same qualities found by Montgomery. Many of the tourists enjoy visiting this island. The National park is located on the northern shores of the island, facing the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The park stretches roughly 90km in length. The park is the home for the endangered Piping Plover, a sand colored shore bird. This bird is similar to the size of a sparrow and is an endangered species. The famous Green Gables farm lies in inside the park. The farm finds a prominent place in the “Anne of Green Gables” written by Lucy Maud Montgomery.
