Oman extends ban on visa for expats in sales jobs
Muscat: The decision of the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) not to issue visas to non-Omani sales and marketing professionals, has been extended for the next six months, according to a ministerial decision. The decision has been in place since December 2013. The MoM came out with the new regulation, extending its decision on stoppage to issuing visas for these two sectors for a period of six months recently. The Ministry in a statement recently said, "The private sector is required to reduce reliance on expatriates and provide Omanis with the required training to help them take over the jobs currently occupied by expatriates." It added, "It follows with special interest the generation of job opportunities for Omanis in private sector organisations, which are required to enhance the Omanisation rate and help Omanis take over different posts in this sector."
