Labor pact signed with Uganda
RIYADH: Labor Minister Mufrej Al-Haqabani and his Ugandan counterpart Moroli Mocasa have signed a labor agreement at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh, paving the way for Ugandans to work as domestic workers in the Kingdom. The agreement, which is the ninth such pact, was reached at keeping in view the growing demand for housemaids and underlines the effort of the ministry to open up the labor market. In a press conference, held after the signing ceremony, Al-Haqabani said that according to the deal, the total cost of bringing labor from Uganda would be SR7,000 and that the monthly salary of each housemaid would be SR750. The process for registration would begin soon, he said. Al-Haqabani said that the agreement also covers the subject of retirement between employee and the employer to protect the rights of both sides. It has also addressed terms and conditions in detail, including the contract which would have to be signed in advance, he added. Source:arabnews http://www.arabnews.com/saudi-arabia/news/774836 |
