Royal step to boost KSA health
JEDDAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman will open a number of new National Guard medical projects, including a 552-bed specialist children’s hospital, during a ceremony at King Abdul Aziz Medical City in Riyadh on Thursday.
National Guard Minister Prince Miteb bin Abdullah thanked King Salman for patronizing the event and for his support to the various sectors of the National Guard including its health care department.
“Some of the projects to be opened by the king reflects the remarkable progress achieved by Saudi Arabia in the health sector,” the minister said, referring to the King Abdullah Specialist Children Hospital.
“This hospital is first of its kind in the Kingdom and is made up of three 11-story towers. The first two towers with advanced medical facilities are designed to provide outstanding health care to children,” Prince Miteb said.
Dr. Bandar bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Qanawi, executive director of health affairs at the National Guard, said King Salman would also open the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center and the Central Laboratory.
“The research center is one of the pioneering projects that would conduct studies on health problems in the Kingdom to find effective solutions,” Al-Qanawi said, adding that it would have advanced medical laboratories.
