The Ugandan Education system has a an arrangement of primary education for a period of seven years ,secondary education for a duration of six years (segregated into lower secondary and upper secondary school for a period of four and two year respectively. The post secondary education for a period of three to five years. From the early 1960s, the current education system is adopted.
Primary education
In the year 1999, 6 million students got primary education in contrast to two million pupils in 1986. The numbers got escalated, because of the availability of free education for four kids in each family. Only a few primary school graduates went on to take any type of secondary education. This is dependent upon them clearing their PLE (Primary Leaving Examinations).
Secondary Educaiton
3 year technical schools offer a choice to lower secondary school. The options for the lower secondary school graduates comprise two to three year technical institutes, two year PTC (Primary Teacher Colleges), DTCs (Department Training Colleges) and Upper secondary school, such as

Bulks of them attend universities, which are both private as well as public. Especially MUK (Makerere University in Kampala) accepts some ninety five percent of the total population of students in the universities of Uganda. The rest of the students are admitted into the twenty plus universities and non-University institutions in fewer numbers.
