The education level in the Republic of Ireland comprises of primary, secondary and higher (frequently called as "third-level") education. Years

Primary education
In all school, primary education is taught. It consists of 8 years duration.A majority of students attend the primary schools in between the age of four and twelve year of age, even though it is not mandatory till the age of six years.
The primary schools are of four different types, they are
National schools: It is normally adminsiterd by the board management under the patronage of diocesan and also comprise of a native clergy man
Gaelscoilenna: It is a latest education association. Irish language is the medium of instruction in these types of schools. Almost ten percent of the school go to Gaelscoilenna and has 368 primary and post primary institutions all over the nation, thereby making tit e rapidly increasing education sector.
Multidenominational schools: It is another new type of schools. They are administered under the patronage of nonprofit limited organization without share investment. These schools were opened as a result of demand from the parents. Students belonging to all religion are admitted in these schools.
Preparatory schools: These are autonomous schools fee-paying primary institution that is not dependent on the state funding. The schools are mostly under the patronage of a religious organization.
Secondary education
Most pupils take part and finish the secondary education. with nearly ninety percent of the students attending the terminal education, and obtaining the school leaving certificate in between the age of 16 to 19 year of age.
