The museum is housed in a fifteenth century chronological structure, which is regarded by the Nigerian Government as a national monument.

The museum is segregated into several galleries. Some of the galleries comprise of Zaure in the major threshold with exhibits of conventional materials, Kano’s maps and city malls, statehood’s history, and 19th century Kano, economy, civil war, music and industry.
You can find collections of Hausa costumes, tools, weapons, photograph documenting Kano’s eternal history.
