Ever since its destruction, the castle is partly constructed in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. It is situated at an elevated height of 80 meters (250 feet) on the northern portion of the Königstuhl hillside. From there one can have a glimpse of the old downtown.
The castle houses the facets of the Renaissance and the Gothic periods. Some of the places that are worth visiting in the Heidelberg castle are the castle gardens, Pharmacy museum, and the world's biggest barrel called the Great Vat.
