Tränenpalast, right from 1962 to 1989 functioned as the vital terminal for tourists between west and East Germany. The structure was utilized for westbound journeys, having separate checkpoints for WestGermany and East Germany citizens, civil servants, travelers, transit visitors, etc.
You will find exhibits kept in the museum, which briefs you on the bitter past. You will find displays showing the East Germans saying goodbye to their friends and relatives returning back to West Germany. The museum helps the younger generation to know about the past history.
