The Ludwigsburg palace

The Ludwigsburg palace is an ancient building in the Ludwigsburg city and is located at a distance of 12 km from the city centre of Stuttgart. The historical structure is one of the biggest Baroque palaces in Germany, built during the Baroque era.
The Württemberg’ King, Frederick I and its duke Charles Eugene transformed the initial Baroque design of the palace. Now you can see three predominant designs at the Ludwigsburg palace.

Baroque (For instance, the recent major building’s rest rooms, the ancient major building, Games & Hunting Pavilions, the Giants’ buildings, the court chapel).

Empire (For instance, the Audience chamber of the king, the marble hall, the king’s library, the bedroom of the queen). King Frederick I did the modification for the Empire.

Rococo (For instance the private suite of the duke, Order Chapel, the recent major building). Duke Carl Eugene did all these alterations.

The Ludwigsburg palace is famous for the "Baroque in Bloom", a garden show which attracts large number of visitors annually. The adjoining gardens and the palace give to the visitor, a feeling that dates back to the eighteenth century.

The palace boasts of having three museums.

Baroque Gallery (ancient major Building), a Stuttgart State Gallery’s branch that exhibits Baroque paintings.

Baroque Fashion Museum- a Württemberg State Museum’s branch, Stuttgart, which displays clothes belonging to the 1750-1820 period.

Porcelain Museum (latest major Building) - a Württemberg State Museum’s branch, Stuttgart.
