The Republic of Yemen is generally called as Yemen is a nation that is situated in the Middle East, extending from the Arabian Peninsula’s south western portion to its southern end. The country is bordered on the north by Saudi Arabia, Red sea in the west and in the east by Oman.

One etymology gets Yemen from yamin (“the right side”) because the south is on the right, whilst facing the sunrise, but this etymology is regarded doubtful. One more obtains Yemen from yumn implying “felicity”, because the region is lush. Yean is also called it as “Arabia Felix” (Happy Arabia “) by the Romans.

History

Yemen has long survived at the culture’s crossroads; it is joined by some of the aged civilization centers in the near East by desirable quality of its position in Saudi Arabia.
