The Queen Elizabeth National Park is the most well-known and frequently visited park in Uganda. It is situated in the western part of Uganda, and it spreads over Kamwenge, Bushenyi, Kasese, and Rukungiri distrricts. The Kasese town is located immediately external to the southeastern peripherals of the park.

The national park is spread roughly on a 764 sq mi (1,978 square kilometers) area. The park is formed in the year 1954 and is named after the British Monarch Queen Elizabeth II.

Some of the inhabitants you can see in this park are elephants, hippopotamuses, lions, leopards, and chimpanzees. You will also be welcomed by large herd of UgandanKop, a kind of antelope similar to the impala.

The Mweya Peninsula is an area, which has a number of waterfronts, were you can see the hippos and the tuskers in large numbers and forest hog.

The isolated Ishasha sector is renowned for the tree climbing lions. You can have a tete-a-tete with the chimps at the Kyambura Gorge. The Maramagambo Forest houses large numbers of birds and monkey. At the crater lakes, you can see flock of flamingoes.
